Mizoram to get six AYUSH hospitals

Union minister Sonowal informed that the railways project in the state nearing completion and with the Kaladan waterway project, the state would be able to realise its tremendous potential

Union Minister of AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal laid foundation stones of six AYUSH hospitals, and inaugurated 24 AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres in Mizoram in a function held at Dawrpui Multipurpose Centre, on March 3.

While three 50- bed AYUSH hospitals will be constructed at Aizawl, Champhai and Hnahthial, other three ten-bed ones will be set up at Keifang, Kolasib and Khawzawl, Sonowal informed.

Expressing gratitude to the ministry and terming the occasion a “special one” for the state, chief minister Zoramthanga said that there is a need to harness the unexplored potential of the Northeast and “we must try revolutionising the region with our God-gifted resources”. He also stressed on the need of avenues to capitalise on the region’s rich medicinal plants as such an activity will foster economic growth and subsequently empower many households in the region.

Echoing the chief minister, Sonowal said that the new AYUSH infrastructures would go a long way in meeting the healthcare requirements of the people of the state. He further informed that the railways project in the state nearing completion and with the Kaladan waterway project, the state would be able to realise its tremendous potential.

Health minister R Lalthangliana stated that the people of the state have become aware of the benefits of various AYUSH systems and in the last few years acceptance of these systems in improving healthcare has increased among the people.
