Mukul corners NPP-led MDA govt on deplorable state of education in state

, “In the last election they said that education is their first priority? So, why are they handling the teachers badly? Despite saying that education is their first priority, they are the ones shutting down Architecture and Engineering colleges without completing it," Mukul Sangma said.

TURA:

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Legislature Party Leader and Leader of the Opposition held multiple meetings in West Garo Hills on February 13, and cornered the NPP-led MDA government on several issues, including education.

Addressing a meeting in Rangsakona, Mukul questioned the NPP’s abject failure in delivering their promises when it came to education, saying, “In the last election they said that education is their first priority? So, why are they handling the teachers badly? Despite saying that education is their first priority, they are the ones shutting down Architecture and Engineering colleges without completing it.”

“They are the ones who are shutting down schools without appointing new teachers after the retirement of primary school teachers. Is this how they show their priority for education? Hundreds of primary schools are closed in South Garo Hills, East Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills, and South-West Garo Hills,” he added.

Addressing a similar meeting in Dalu, Mukul attacked the NPP-led MDA government stating that the government claimed to provide a civil subdivision, but everything was done hastily just to stage an inauguration. “Didn’t they colour the building just two days before setting it up?” Mukul questioned.

“They even got the furniture on rent. Soon, after the inauguration, all the furniture was taken back which means that there is nothing. It is empty now. Who are they cheating?” he further questioned.

Taking a dig at Congress for being hand-in-gloves with the BJP and NPP, Dr. Sangma said, “INC is a part of the BJP, and they are giving the tickets only after consulting with the BJP and NPP.”
