NEHU to host international conference on Computing from March 16 to 18

I3CS-2023 aims at bringing together the Researchers, Scientists, Engineers and Students working in the areas of Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering to a single platform for the dissemination of original research results, new ideas and practical development experiences in emerging information and communication technologies to improve human lives.

The Department of Information Technology, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is organising IEEE-cosponsored 4th International Conference on Computing and Communication Systems (www.i3cs2023.in) from March 16-18 at NEHU, Shillong.

I3CS-2023 aims at bringing together the Researchers, Scientists, Engineers and Students working in the areas of Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering to a single platform for the dissemination of original research results, new ideas and practical development experiences in emerging information and communication technologies to improve human lives. We have received about 185 research papers from various reputed research and academic institutions, and industries out of which 8 papers are from abroad. Research papers are received in 5 different tracks: Computing Devices and Systems, Computer Communication & Networking, Security and Cryptography, Computational Intelligence, Biomedical and Bioinformatics. Around 100 researchers from across the globe will participate in the conference.

The inaugural ceremony of I3CS-2023 is scheduled to be held at 10 AM on March 16 at Community Hall, NEHU, where Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, Vice Chancellor, NEHU will be the Chief Guest of the function.

Padma Sri Prof. Sankar Kumar Pal, National Science Chair, Science and Engineering Research Board, Govt. of India will grace the occasion as one of the guests of honours.

The other guest of honour is Prof. Iti Saha Misra, Chairperson, IEEE Kolkata Section. The plenary talk of the conference will be delivered by Prof. Sankar Kumar Pal. During the three days conference, several keynote talks will also be delivered by eminent scientist including Prof. Vincenzo Piuri, University of Milan, Italy and Prof. Gautam Barua, Director, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati.

According to a press communique, the session is expected to present an in-depth discussion on knowledge and skills imparted to the engineering students by Academic Institutions, expectations of the industries from the engineering pass-outs, analysing the gap, followed by a possible roadmap to mitigate it. A special focus shall be given to the perspective of North-East India. Prof. Gautam Barua, Director, IIIT Guwahati, Prof. S. P. Agarwal, Director, NESAC, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, VC, NEHU have kindly consented to take part in the interactive session. A few distinguished personalities from ICT industry will take part in the interactive session. The list includes Dr. Kuntal Dey, Accenture Lab, Bangalore, Trijoy Saikia, HCLTech, Noida, Mr. Snehasis Banerjee, Scientist (AI) at TCS, and Mr. Siddhant, Director, STPI Guwahati. A large number of B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D students are expected to join.

“We will be conducting two pre-conference workshops on Virtual Reality App Development and Cloud Computing. These two workshops will impart hands on training on those technologies. The Virtual Reality Application Development workshop will be conducted by Dr. Jeyaprakash Chelladurai, Assistant Professor, East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, United States. Dr. Ferdous Ahmed Barbhuiya, Associate Dean, IIIT, Guwahati will conduct the other workshop on Cloud Computing,” the press communique  stated.

In addition, a session for industry representatives are kept to present on Next Generation ICT technologies which may guide the participants for their future course of action.
