SHILLONG:
The newly-formed political parties – Voice of People Party (VPP) has won four seats — Adelbert Nongrum (North Shillong), Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit (Nongkrem), Brightstarwell Marbaniang (Mawlai) and Heaving Stone Kharpran (Mawryngkneng).
Kharpran defeated his closest rival Dr OS Jyrwa of UDP by 1242 votes. He secured 11424 votes while Jyrwa got 10182 votes.
