NGO extends help to flood-affected victims

The relief operations for the worst affected district in South Garo Hills has been pouring in continuously from the region and the team members of A’chik Heritage Pursuits (AHP) had once again extended the relief materials to those affected families in Kalu. The materials consist of food items such as rice, dal, sugar, salt, utensils, blankets, mats, tarpaulin, kerosene stove, kerosene, etc.

The team had mentioned that about three lakhs and eighty three thousand rupees had been collected from the ever generous donors including various church groups, schools, Wildlife Trust of India, individuals from Tura, Dalu, Williamnagar and other places, etc gave in cash and kind.

The donors include Tura Baptist Church, Aeroville School, Don Bosco College Batch of 97-02, Dura Wasa Club, PWD Building Division, PHE Rongjeng, Chiring Dokru SHG, CEM, GHADC, Father Fellowship Football Team, Garo Engineering Band, Bolanchi A’ding locality, Blue van Tura, Kusimkol Baptist church to name a few.

It may be mentioned that the materials had been handed over to the team led by Jimmy G Marak of Kalu who will be delivering these items to villagers by traversing the remaining 7 kilometres on foot to Kalu. Cash of ten thousand rupees each were also handed over to the Nokmas of Rengdim, Kalu and Rongcheng meant for volunteers to ferry the relief to the village.

The AHP team had extended their immense gratitude to all the donors and everyone who had contributed to make a difference to those in distress.
