Now, 14-digit number for authoritative info on land parcel in Assam

ULPIN has been generated for 434 villages of Srijangram, Boitamari and Bongaigaon circles of Bongaigaon district as a pilot with Property Natural Identifier Unit (PNIU) for 1.68 lakh land parcels.

GUWAHATI:

The People of Assam will be able to avail authoritative information on ownership of any parcel of land thanks to the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) that was virtually launched by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj minister, Giriraj Singh, on March 12.

Conceived under the MMP – Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (MMP-DILRMP), the initiative plans to issue a 14-digit alphanumeric geo-spatial “unique identification number” (UIN) that can be touted as Bhu-Aadhar for every land parcel of the state.

Addressing the programme, Singh emphasised how everyone should learn and adopt the best practices in land management and acquisition while appreciating the foundational work towards land governance in the states.

He also stressed on the importance of ULPIN, adding that once implemented, this system will go a long way in resolving most land disputes.

Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management (RDM), Assam, Jogen Mohan, informed that the state government has initiated a consolidated effort to integrate “all processes” around the land records database, under Mission Basundhara.

The initiative also envisages the survey of non-cadastral villages and re-survey of all cadastral villages, along with mission mode purification of land records, to name a few, which will generate the ULPIN for real-time accurate land parcels.

Considering the geospatial identifier complies with international standards, it will pave the way towards the implementation of conclusive titling.

So far, ULPIN has been generated for 434 villages of Srijangram, Boitamari and Bongaigaon circles of Bongaigaon district as a pilot with a Property Natural Identifier Unit (PNIU) for 1.68 lakh land parcels.
