NPP condemns allegations made against Mohendro Rapsang

In a statement issued on February 17, the West Shillong NPP Block alleged that a group of people who were from the United Democratic Party (UDP) started the unrest, and also claimed that a person named Drosing was behind the acts.

SHILLONG:

The West Shillong NPP block Community has condemned the accusation against former MLA and National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Mohendro Rapsang asserting that it has no basis but it is an attempt to malign and bring a bad name to Rapsang.

In a statement issued on February 17, the West Shillong NPP Block alleged that a group of people who were from the United Democratic Party (UDP) started the unrest, and also claimed that a person named Drosing was behind the acts.

The NPP went on to allege that the intention was also to cause harm and injury to the members of the NPP on the same evening at 11 pm.

On learning about the incident, Rapsang went to the spot, but was surprised that a crowd of 30-40 people gathered at the area.

Rapsang informed the Dorbar Shnong to cool down the situation, the NPP stated, “These set of people are not from our constituency (they) started a chaos with the intention of causing physical harm and injury towards our Ex MLA Rapsang.”

The NPP stated that Sohtun’s accusations that there was a threat to destroy her house is a desperate attempt to gain political gains which is covered and painted with lies only to cover up her husband who we now know is Drosing.

“Drosing’s father has been working for the Rapsang Group of Industries for 35 years and equally shares a very good rapport and respect for each other. Bah Lang (Rapsang) even met him after the incident to inform him of his son’s attempt along with the UDP members to physically assault him without knowing the closeness between the two families (Rapsang and Drosing’s father),” the NPP said.

The NPP turned to 2013 and 2018 incidents and alleged that petrol bombs were hurled at the supporters of Rapsang and also physically assaulted them.
