NPYF slams Mukul Sangma for visiting border areas

The NPYF president further said that the question is why is Sangma interested in the issue now when he is no more in power.

Shillong:

A day after the leader of the opposition Mukul Sangma criticised the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government for signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Assam to settle the boundary dispute in six areas of difference in the first phase, the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) said that the former did not do take any step to resolve the long-pending issue during his tenure as the chief minister of the state in the Congress government.

“If Mukul Sangma had taken the interest in the issue when he was the chief minister of the state, we believe the issue could have been resolved then,” said Kitborlang Nongrem, NPYF president.

The NPYF president further said that the question is why is All India Trinamool Congress legislator interested in the issue now when he is no more in power.

Stating that the youth wing of the National People’s Party (NPP) would never want to lose even an inch of Meghalaya’s land, Nongrum said that it will be very difficult to satisfy everybody living on the border villages and even the state government knows it. “But if we don’t settle it now, then when?” Nongrem added.
