NONGPOH:
More than 40 people from Nongkhrah village in Ri Bhoi district – including women and children- fell ill after consuming the food allegedly served at a wedding held in the village last Friday.
They are currently undergoing treatment in Bethany and Nongpoh Civil Hospitals.
Reports stated that soon after consuming the food, there were no signs of ailments, but on early Saturday morning, many attendees reportedly showed symptoms of nausea and diarrhoea.
It was informed that the villagers undergoing treatment are stable, and none of them was admitted to the ICU. They will be discharged soon.
The patients narrated that many of them who took ill had consumed pork at a wedding held in their village.
Health officials from Ri Bhoi rushed to the village to ascertain the facts and conduct an investigation.
