PM tries his hand at Assamese dhol during Sonowal’s Bihu bash

Modi, who spend about an hour at the do, also enjoyed several performances before interacting with artistes and guests at the event.

NEW DELHI:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a Rongali Bihu event organised by the Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal at his New Delhi residence, on April 23.

Appreciating the Prime Minister’s gesture, Sonowal said that Modi’s attendance reflects the love he has for the Assamese people and their culture. “I am grateful to the Prime Minister for his kind presence at the Bihu function and his blessings. In the last eight years, his interests and initiatives for the overall development of Assam and the Northeast are unprecedented,” said the Union minister.

The event showcased the vibrant dance forms of the state and the Prime Minister too tried his hand on some traditional percussion instruments, including the Assamese dhol. Modi, who spend about an hour at the do, also enjoyed several performances before interacting with artistes and guests at the event.

Rongali Bihu, which coincides with the Assamese new year, is celebrated from April 14 for a week.
