Police arrest 3 ENNG members in Tinsukia, recover arms

Based on specific information a team of Special Task Force of Arunachal Pradesh Police arrested the three ENNG cadres with the help of Tinsukia police from SK Point in Tinsukia town.

GUWAHATI:

In a joint operation with Assam Police, Arunachal Pradesh Police arrested three cadres of Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) from Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on February 25 evening.

Based on specific information a team of Special Task Force of Arunachal Pradesh Police arrested the three ENNG cadres with the help of Tinsukia police from SK Point in Tinsukia town.

Aehon Ngodam (40) son of late Pangkhah Ngadam under Khasa police station of Pongchau district; Awany Ngodam (32) son of Junlai Ngodam of Khasa Hospital Colony under Longding police station in Longding district; and Hongam Ngodam (20) son of Chalai Ngodam of Khasa Village under Longding police station in Longding district.

Confirming this, Tinsukia superintendent of police Abhijit Gurav said the police team also recovered a .32 mm pistol, two magazines and several rounds of live ammunition from the arrested cadres.

Recently, Arunachal police busted a camp of an ENNG outfit near the India-Myanmar border in Changlang district and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

“They are running an extortion racket in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh. They are targeting businessmen and traders in the area,” said a senior official of Arunachal Pradesh Police.

The ENNG, formed in January 2016, is active in the Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
