Imphal, Feb 28: Around 200 armed miscreants stormed into the residence of Additional SP, IW, Moirangthem Amit Singh and abducted him along with his escort on Tuesday evening, a statement issued by police said.
The police officer was abducted from his residence at Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai under Porompat PS in Imphal East District. βThe armed miscreants vandalized the household properties at the residence. They were later rescued from Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai area and admitted to Raj Medicity for medical treatment. A case has been registered in this regard and investigation has started,” the statement said.
On getting information about the incident, additional security forces was rushed to the spot, which resulted in neutralising two individuals Rabinash Moirangthem, 24 yrs s/o M. Ranjan of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai and Kangujam Bhimsen, 20 yrs c/o K. Abosana of Khongman Bashikhong.
The duo sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at JNIMS Hospital, Porompat.
