Residents of Umsning and Nongpoh constituencies, Ri Bhoi District on Friday took out rallies to support Voice of the People Party (VPP) chief Ardent Miller Basawiamoit on Reservation policy
The rally in Umsning commenced at Dorbar Hall till the residence of MLA Celestian Lyngdoh.
However, upon reaching his residence, the participants found that his house was locked, preventing them from directly meeting with him. They voiced their disappointment and condemned him for his silence, as it seemed that the MLA of Umsning did not want to support the reservation policy.
The rally then ended up with sit-in outside the Auditorium Hall of Umsning follow by a signature campaign.
The protest was later joined by the general secretary of VPP Ricky Synkon, spoke person of VPP Batskhem Myrdon, along with the NGOs as CoRP and HITO
Meanwhile, the public rally in Nongpoh was also joined by MLA Mayralborn Syiem wherein he promised to discuss the matter with his party (United Democratic Party) and take it up with the government.
