SHILLONG:
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, overseeing PWD (Roads), disclosed on Tuesday that the alignment of the Pynursla Bypass, a component of the Shillong Dawki road project’s package-III, has been confirmed.
Contrary to allegations in an affidavit filed before the Meghalaya High Court claiming objections from locals hindered the alignment’s finalisation, Tynsong dismissed such claims as “wrong”. He expressed satisfaction that both the community and landowners had reached an agreement, with the final alignment determined by the state PWD and NHIDCL, now forwarded to the Ministry of Road Transport and NHIDCL headquarters.
Tynsong emphasised the involvement of local headmen, executive members, and landowners in the decision-making process, highlighting the thorough on-site inspection conducted in the presence of local authorities, SDO Civil, ADM in charge of Revenue, NHIDCL representatives, and engineers from State PWD. He asserted that the alignment’s finalisation for the Pynursla Bypass occurred under these circumstances.
The Pynursla bypass, spanning approximately 10-13 kilometres, is a significant part of the project.
Earlier, Tynsong said that initially the survey for the alignment of the bypass was kept on hold due to misunderstanding here and there between NHIDCL and the local authority.
“But in the recent months what happened was that a resurvey was conducted and then we have from the state government convinced the traditional heads and then the landowners to cooperate and also to see the necessity of having a Pynursla Bypass,” he said.
