NONGPOH:

The Ri Bhoi District Badminton Association (RBDBA) is gearing up to showcase the burgeoning talent of youth in badminton through the upcoming “Open to All Badminton Tournament.” Scheduled from February 15 to 17, at the State Sports Council Meghalaya Indoor Stadium, Umlyngkdait, Nongpoh, the event is designed to provide a platform for emerging players.

During a media briefing, RBDBA President Franky Lyngdoh, accompanied by Secretary Anant Swet and other members underscored the tournament’s primary focus on nurturing young talent. Notably, the tournament’s unique aspect lies in excluding current state players, highlighting its dedication to offering opportunities for aspiring athletes.

With player registrations closing on February 14, the tournament will feature three categories: Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Veteran Doubles (ages 40 and above). RBDBA extends a warm invitation to both youth and older individuals to actively participate.

Furthermore, organisers are actively encouraging youth players in need of accommodation, especially those travelling from distant locations, to promptly inform them. This will enable the organizers to assist in arranging lodging accommodations for the participants.
