NONGPOH:
Ri Bhoi Police, on Saturday, arrested three drug smugglers who were traveling from Guwahati to Shillong.
On receiving information about 2 people carrying a consignment of drugs on a two-wheeler, the police set up a Naka checking at Byrnihat Outpost on NH6, along with a staff of the Byrnihat OP.
The cops intercepted two persons on a scooty bearing registration number ML05-W-4762, around 6.30 pm. The duo identified as Vicky Shabong and Aman Diengdoh, both residents of Shillong, informed that they are supposed to deliver the consignment in the city.
On further questioning, it was discovered that the two men were accompanied by another person who was traveling on a bike behind them, following which the naka-checking continued.
However, while the cops tried to intercept another bike bearing registration number ML05-R-5706, its rider fled but was nabbed by the Nongpoh PS team around 7 pm and was brought to Byrnihat OP for questioning.
The person was identified as Ribok Lyngdoh, a resident of the East Khasi Hills district.
The police seized 7 soap boxes of contraband which tested positive for Heroin, one bike, one scooty, along with 4 mobile phones.
