Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi district Arpit Upadhyaya, on November 14, informed that the district is fully prepared to host the Cherry Blossom Festival 2023, with adequate arrangements in place for the three-day grand event at Madan Kurkalang, Bhoirymbong, starting from November 17.
Briefing media persons in the city, the DC said that enough security personnel have been deployed to keep a check on entry and exit points, and Shnong volunteers will man designated parking places to ensure the public do not face any kind of inconvenience and there is disruption to normal traffic.
As for the Joint Action Committee (JAC) opposing the festival, Superintendent of Police (SP) Giri Prasad informed that the concerned departments and village shnongs have met the members of the JAC and made them understand the timing of the festival has been altered and it will only begin after the church service.
