NONGPOH:
The Ri Bhoi police seized 45.31 gms of suspected heroin and arrested two drug peddlers in connection with the seizure at 14-mile area of Byrnihat on October 6.
The arrested persons have been identified as Bina Sarkar (45) and Phrangsngi Nongshli (34) both from Ri Bhoi district.
Acting on reliable information about a vehicle coming from Assam, police laid a naka at Byrnihat and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS01Z8255. Upon thorough checking, four boxes of heroin and two mobile phones were recovered.
Meanwhile, a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the duo, and further investigation on the matter is ongoing.
