Royalty shares from state vague: ADCs

Speaking to reporters, KHADC CEM Titosstarwell Chyne urged the government to give the actual calculation of the shares as all this while the state government has been releases lump sum amounts.

SHILLONG:

The autonomous district councils, on April 24, urged the state government to provide the actual calculation of shares from royalty from minor minerals, major minerals and motor vehicle taxes that the state government releases to them.

The three councils held a meeting at the conference hall of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), here.

Speaking to reporters, KHADC CEM Titosstarwell Chyne urged the government to give the actual calculation of the shares as all this while the state government has been releases lump sum amounts.

“All these years, we never got a correct calculation. How much is our share? We always get a lump sum amount of share, so we would like to urge the state government that at least we should get an actual calculation regarding the matter,” Chyne said.

On the other hand, the ADCs have urged the state government to not delay the release of funds as that delays the implementation of schemes.

Further, the KHADC chief said that there was also discussion on the delay in the release of grants under the 15th Finance Commission from the Centre, and requested that it be released in time.

“The central government pressurises us to submit utilisation certificates (UC) but we are unable to do so because we are not getting our funds in time,” Chyne said.

He added that the Untied Schemes for 2021-‘22, 2022-‘23 have not yet been released by the central government

“These two years is still pending with the central government because we have not yet been able to issue the UC as there are some technical problems also,” he said.
