Shillong Lajong face United Chirang Duar FC on Monday

SHILLONG:

Shillong Lajong to play United Chirang Duar FC on Monday at 3 pm in Taikajhora (Chirang) in the 68th Bharat Ratna Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy, organised by the Guwahati Sports Association.

Earlier, in the Group D encounter, Shillong Lajong FC snatched all 3 points against Assam Regimental Centre with the 1-0 victory on Saturday. Wadajied K Ryngkheeb from Shillong Lajong scored the only goal of the match.

The third matchday in the tournament turned out to be a tough test for early favourites Delhi FC and Shillong Lajong FC, as underdogs India Club, Silchar matched their opponents in every aspect.  In group A, India Club defeated ITBP 3-2 in a thrilling encounter where their talisman V Vignesh again made the difference with 2 goals (22’, 55’). Dorjee Wangchu Khangro added the first in the 14th minute.

ITBP fought back with two goals from Rijul Narzary (38’) and Gyanjit Basumatary (70’), but that was not enough for them to snatch a point from the match.

In Group B, Delhi FC defeated Assam Police Blues 2-0 with their Japanese Attacking Midfielder Kosuke Yamazaki scoring both the goals (14’, 31’ (P)).

In group C, CISF and Nagaland Police played a 2-2 draw. Bhola (7’) and Md Khaleed (57’) scored for CISF and Khwctlelhi Thopi (24’) and Lima Kumzuk (68’) scored for Nagaland Police.I

n the matches played on Sunday,  defending champions ASEB SC bid adieu to the 68th Bordoloi Trophy as they were held by Gauhati Town Club 0-0 in Group A.

In Group B, Daimalu Club defeated Assam Police Blues 2-1 to keep their semifinal hope alive. Trimurti Narzary (8’) and Uday Boro (10’) scored for the winning team while Siprajit Chetia scored one for Assam Police.

In Group C, Nagaland Police defeated OIL India FC 2-1 to make the group wide open. Khwetelhi Thopi (46’) and Kezhose (80’) scored for Nagaland Police while Milan Basumatary (18’) scored for OIL. In Group D, North East United were held again by ARC, Shillong by the scoreline of 1-1.

Maitshapbrang Nengrong scored fot ARC in 38th minutes and Alfred Lalruotsang scored for NEUFC in 75th minutes.
