Khasi folk musician Silbi Passah on February 24 received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 2021.
Passah, a resident of Riatsamthiah, Shillong, was awarded the honorĀ for folk music. In addition to the copper plate and a stole, she also earned a monetary award of Rs. 1 lakh.
A total of 128 artists from the field of music, dance, theatre, traditional, folk, and puppetry were given the awards which included Sangeet Natak Akademiās Fellowships (Akademi Ratna) and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puruskar) for the year 2019, 2020 and 2021
The awards were presented by President of India, Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi.
