Sohiong Polls: What’s the point of voting for NPP, UDP? asks BJP candidate

One can see that all the parties like National People’s Party (NPP), United Democratic Party (UDP) are working with the BJP as it is a central party, Kharbuki said while believing that the saffron party has a chance.

SHILLONG:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Sohiong constituency Seraph Eric Kharbuki, on April 24, exuded confidence about winning the seat even as he rubbished the negative narratives about the party and said that every other political party in the state are working hand-in-hand with the BJP.

One can see that all the parties like National People’s Party (NPP), United Democratic Party (UDP) are working with the BJP as it is a central party, Kharbuki said while believing that the saffron party has a chance.

“The people should not be afraid of the BJP anymore as all parties have come hand-in-hand with the party, and it would be better if they make the BJP win as there is no difference because the NPP, UDP, and all other parties have to go through the BJP,” Kharbuki said.

He also said that the BJP is one of the biggest parties in India and that he joined the party as it has the essence of helping the poor and needy, in particular the farmers. Sohiong, being a farmers-dominated constituency, can benefit from the centrally-sponsored schemes, which he will bring if he is elected.

When asked if the people of Sohiong support the BJP, Kharbuki said that the perception about the BJP being an anti-minority party has done some damages but asserted that these are all rumours that are far from the truth.

Additionally, Kharbuki promised to implement a few things if he is elected. These include – to set an Agriculture and Horticulture office in Diengiei, a degree college, the State Bank of India and Meghalaya Co Operative Apex Bank in Diengiei and Sohiong, solar street lights in the villages, a residential school sanctioned by the central government, mini stadiums in both Diengiei and Sohiong, promotion of tourism and direct funding as per BJP’s manifesto.

“In the past, Sohiong has produced only persons who can bring in schemes and not a policy-maker. This time, things will change. Allow me to sit in the Assembly and debate on policies that matter; I will ensure that central schemes will be implemented for the betterment and development of the constituency,” Kharbuki added.
