SHILLONG:

Stall keepers at the Cherry Blossom Festival site expressed disappointment over the late announcement of the cancellation of the first day of the Cherry Blossom Festival on November 17, citing loss to their business as they had made all arrangements.

Briefing the media, the owners ranted their anger over poor management, stating that though weather conditions but proper arrangements could have been made.

Narrating the ordeal, one of the stall owners said, “They should have planned the event properly, including the stall set up and protection of equipment.”

Similarly, another owner said that they were only informed after 4:30 pm about the show cancellation, a time by which they had prepared everything expecting good business.

“After 4:30 all preparations were done, so where do we throw these eatables and food now. We could have been informed early about the cancellation, say by 12; noon,” she said.
