State subservient under NPP: Mukul Sangma

Speaking at a programme to launch MYE Card on January 5, he said, “Then on March 6, 2018, the powers from Delhi converged in Shillong. The city was filled with saffron flags. These parties are showing that they are no longer together, do not get fooled. The moment the election comes, you will see lots of drama-baazi.”

SHILLONG:

Trinamool Congress Legislature Party leader and leader of opposition Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Mukul Sangma has accused the National People’s Party (NPP) of having made the state subservient to others and surrendered its authority to powers from outside.

He said that the present government was installed by the powers from Delhi as it was not a mandate.

The former chief minister pointed out that the state is overburdened by debts and said that the overall projection of the state’s debts in its budgetary figures is not a true reflection of the actual debts which is the result of unplanned borrowing by the present government.

“Today many of the borrowings are hidden and borrowings are made by creating an entity which is not reflected in the budget, so you do not have the exact figure in the budget. Who are they trying to cheat?” Sangma said.

He claimed that local entrepreneurs are displaced by those from outside the state and business in MeECL is captured by selected few outsiders and blamed the policymakers.
