Streets are not where laws are made: Ampareen Lyngdoh tells VPP

“Members of a particular party abstained from attending the meeting even though the floor was open to queries and doubts. This is something we must set in order; we have to put things in the right perspective. If there are doubts or questions to be asked, we have provided the forum,” Lyngdoh said.

SHILLONG:

National People’s Party (NPP) spokesperson Ampareen Lyngdoh, on May 19, said that the government had a mandate to just discuss the roster system in the state as directed by the High Court and going beyond that would been incorrect.

She said that there is a need to ensure that a robust roster is put into place to protect the interest of all citizens in the state.

“Members of a particular party abstained from attending the meeting even though the floor was open to queries and doubts. This is something we must set in order; we have to put things in the right perspective. If there are doubts or questions to be asked, we have provided the forum,” Lyngdoh said.

Furthermore, she stated that the MDA 2 government has invited all political parties to bring their agendas on roster to the recently constituted committee. “We will not close our doors to anyone with a hope that we, as the people who are at the helm of affairs, who are engineering important laws and policies of the state do it in a befitting manner,” she said.

Additionally, she said, “Let us not hit the streets because the street is not where we make laws. This committee has been constituted to still attend to any query or any uncertain point that any political party feels that will jeopardise the application of the policy.”
