SHILLONG:
A day after Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP national president Conrad K Sangma warned TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee of a mass exodus of party leaders post-election, TMC state vice president George B Lyngdoh hit back at the CM, stating that he is finally acknowledging TMC as a new political force in the state.
Furthermore, he claimed that the NPP will have to buy TMC leaders to try and be back in power.
The chief minister, on January 23, issued a warning to his primary opponent Trinamool Congress, particularly Mamata Banerjee, to be wary of her flock from Meghalaya who jumped ship into her fold ahead of elections, warning that she could come a cropper within months of the March results.
Conrad’s statements reflect his acceptance of the fact that TMC will win with a majority, Lyngdoh said, adding that the NPP now realises that it cannot depend on its own candidates to win the election.
“Conrad has already negotiated with their masters in Guwahati and Delhi. If TMC wins with an overwhelming majority, as is being yearned by the responsible citizens of the State, then BJP-NPP’s action plan is to buy the TMC MLAs,” added the Umroi legislator.
