TMC’s Moitra demands accountability from NPP-BJP ahead of elections

The public meeting was attended by a massive crowd of supporters who gathered to show their support for Meghalaya TMC candidate Sounder S Cajee and to endorse the party’s vision for the prosperity and development of Meghalaya.

MAWKYRWAT:

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra addressed a gathering in Mawkyrwat on February 24, demanding accountability from the NPP-BJP government for the series of scandals executed by those in power in the state. The public meeting was attended by a massive crowd of supporters who gathered to show their support for Meghalaya TMC candidate Sounder S Cajee and to endorse the party’s vision for the prosperity and development of Meghalaya.

Moitra criticised Home Minister Amit Shah for his comment that Meghalaya is the most corrupt state and asked why no action was taken during the NPP-BJP government’s five-year rule. “Home Minister Amit Shah came and said that Meghalaya is the most corrupt state. I want to ask the Home Minister, you have run the government with NPP for five years..why was no action taken?” she said.

Meghalaya TMC leader Sounder S Cajee also addressed the crowd and assured that if voted to power, the party will implement TMC’s 10 Pledges For Meghalaya to ensure holistic development of the people. He said that the massive turnout of supporters in Mawkyrwat demonstrated that the people’s support lies with Meghalaya TMC.

“A sea of supporters have gathered here to listen to us and our party’s vision. This shows that the MDA government’s time is up and the people’s support lies with Meghalaya TMC,” Cajee said.

Trinamool leaders hailed the gathering as historic and a sign that the people of Meghalaya are ready for change. They criticised the BJP-backed and NPP-led MDA government for corruption and unemployment, and pledged to bring back Meghalaya’s lost glory and pride.

The Meghalaya assembly elections are scheduled for February 27, and it remains to be seen whether the TMC will be able to secure the people’s mandate and bring about the change they seek in the state.
