Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee and master instructor of Sieng Riti Institute, Wahkhen in Pynursla, Rojet Buhphang passed away on August 7 after a prolonged illness.

He is said to be in his 50s and is known by many in Wahkhen as a man who crafted traditional musical instruments – such as ka ksing, tangmuri, and ka duitara.

Buhpang, a school dropout, was also one of the brains behind the bamboo bridge built by adopting a traditional strategy. He was also the treasurer of the Tourism Promoters Trekking Society (TPTS) of Wahkhen.

He will be cremated at Wahkhen, on Wednesday (August 9).
