Tripura Congress MLA compares BJP governance with Nazism

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman also slammed the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation, calling them 'puppets' of the BJP.

AGARTALA:

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, on July 21, compared the governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura to that of the rule of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler in Germany.

“Congress always thinks for the country and the countryman. In BJP rule, only one man’s voice is heard. It is like the rule of Hitler. This is total fascism and we condemn it,” said Roy Barman, during a protest rally carried out by the Congress in Agartala over the summoning of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi for questioning.

The Congress workers staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Speaking with reporters, the former BJP minister also lashed out at the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), claiming that they are working as “puppets” of the government.

“The ED, CBI are now working as puppets of the Centre. The central government led by Modi used them for his personal benefit. At a time when Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are talking about the problems of the people, the BJP is using ED and CBI,” he said.

“Now they are trying to disgrace Congress before the people. People are protesting and condemning such things. There is no work; the price of essential commodities is increasing; the value of Indian currency has dropped and the poor people are suffering from all these. Congress will fight and BJP will try to stop us by hatching conspiracy,” he added.

AICC secretary and in-charge of Tripura Pradesh Congress, Szarita Laitphlang, also alleged that the BJP has hatched a big conspiracy against the opposition parties, especially against the Congress.

“We also fought against the British and now will fight against them (BJP). We didn’t bow down that time and we will not bow down this time as well. These fake and fabricated cases against opposition parties are just to divert the attention of people from the burning issues such as GST, safety of women, and price rise of essential commodities,” she added.

During the protest, PCC president, Birajit Sinha, along with other leaders, were also present.
