Tripura police beefs up security ahead of Durga Puja

According to the district administration, as many as 954 pujas will be organised in the West Tripura district, and the majority of the big budget puja pandals fall under the Agartala Sadar sub-division.

With Durga Puja around the corner, Tripura Police has taken various initiatives to ensue that pandal hoppers venture out without any worries since the city witnessed a series of incidents related to burglaries, dacoities, and thefts recently.

Speaking to The Meghalayan, West District Superintendent of Police, Sankar Debnath, said that several arrests were made after the incidents were reported, and all measures have been put in place for a peaceful puja celebration.

“We arrested some people involved in such acts and recovered many stolen items from them. Special arrangements have been made to prevent such incidents in the future,” he said, adding that security have been beefed up and that police are on regular patrol

“We have intensified patrolling across the city, with two teams going around the city from evening till early morning. Additional Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans will also be deployed and nakas will be set up at different areas, “the officer informed.
