NONGPOH:
A truck carrying a haystack caught fire on December 1 while it is was heading from Kamkuchi Sonapur to 11 Miles in Jorabat.
The incident, which had taken place in the early hours of Thursday on the over bridge of Jorabat, created panic among the local residents of the area. The Jorabat Police Outpost was informed and personnel rushed to the spot, and with the help of the Dispur Fire and Emergency Services department, the fire was doused.
As per information received, the driver of the truck said that some employees of a night super bus had a hand in burning the haystack.
The employees of the bus, on the other hand, said they were coming from Duliajan towards Guwahati along with 19 passengers when the bus was hit by the truck as they were descending to Jorabat. The truck fled from the spot, however, as it was travelling over the Jorabat flyover, it suddenly caught fire.
The bus employees have denied they had anything to do with starting the fire, and an investigation by the police has been initiated into the incident.
