UDP confirms Mawsynram unit office-bearers

SHILLONG:

The United Democratic Party (UDP) on Tuesday confirmed the office-bearers of the Mawsynram circle.

Speaking at the meeting, UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh said that there is a need to have leaders who are close to the people.

Lyngdoh said that Ollansing Suiñ, who is the party’s candidate from Mawsynram for the 2023 election and president of the circle, was close to the people.

The UDP president said that the candidates agreed upon by the party should be those the electorate want them to lead.

He said that the public should be given the freedom to choose their leaders.

The UDP president said that one does not need leaders only during the elections but they should be there for five years.

According to him, it is not easy to be a real leader and, therefore, there is a need to have leaders who understand what the public wants.

Lyngdoh also informed that a meeting of the state election committee will soon be convened to decide on the candidates for the 2023 assembly polls.

The UDP president also said that the people of the state want the UDP to win the maximum number of seats.

Meanwhile, apart from Suiñ, who was elected as the president of Mawsynram circle, other office-bearers are – Rockester Thongni as secretary, Blestsar Kharnaior as vice-president and Bit Rangslang as assistant secretary.

Suly Lyngdoh, Ring Nongsiej, Tan Wanniang and Lomes Marbaniang were appointed as advisers.
