UDP, NPP working together with BJP: Pala

He added, “Congress has only 5 MLAs, so we need 6 MLAs. We need to win this constituency. We need to have a healthy opposition.”

Shillong:

State Congress president Vincent Pala said on Friday that the United Democratic Party (UDP) and National People’s Party (NPP) were working hand in hand with the BJP.

Campaigning for Congress candidate Osborn Kharjana at Sohiong market, Pala said, “UDP and NPP are insulting one another here but they are the same there (in the government), they are using the same policy under the leadership of the BJP.”

Turning his attention to the merger of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) with the NPP,  he claimed that people jump from one party to another as there are monetary gains.

“PDF has already talked about Rs 5 crore offer. There is buying and selling of MLAs and candidates,” he added.

Pala went on to say that the constituency is very important for Congress as they look forward to having an opposition leader in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

He added, “Congress has only 5 MLAs, so we need 6 MLAs. We need to win this constituency. We need to have a healthy opposition.”
