The Chemistry Department of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) will be organising the Meghalaya Chemistry Olympiad (MCO) in November, with multi-tiered chemistry competition tailored for high school students.

Informing about the Olympiad, Dr. Sarifuddin Gazi from the Department of Chemistry USTM said that registrations for students of classes VIII, IX, and XI is open, and it will continue till October 15.

“We earnestly encourage  students of VIII, IX, and XI from across the state to actively participate in this competition,” Dr Gazai said in a press release.

Notably, MCO, a competitive examination-based program, provides an exclusive platform for the students of Meghalaya, fostering their enthusiasm for science, with a particular emphasis in the field of chemical sciences. It serves as a valuable catalyst in guiding them towards pursuing Chemistry as a major stream in their higher education endeavour.

The earlier edition of the MCO conducted on November 3, 2022, witnessed a large number of participants from across the state.
