The Voice of the People Party (VPP) announced the symbol for the party, “U Prah”, roughly translated into English as “winnowing basket” at Madan Smit January 21.
Speaking at a party meeting held in Madan Smit, president of VPP Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, said that the symbol represents the party’s commitment to separating out corruption from the state, much like the traditional use of a winnowing tray to separate rice from the rice husk.
“As the party stands on the principle of clean governance, because we understand it will be a blessing for posterity. We chose a symbol that resonates with the vision of the party,” he said.
“Whether or not you support VPP, the party’s symbol ‘U Prah’ is present in every household,” Basaiawmoit added.
He said that the symbol’s message of separation and cleaning is one that resonates with the people of the state and will be a powerful symbol for the party.
