VPP takes jibe at pol parties for not raising issues promised during elections

VPP chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit was responding to a query on the alleged silent attitude of the United Democratic Party (UDP) on the demand to review the job reservation policy, despite it being one of the main promises in its election manifesto.

SHILLONG:

Voice of the People Party (VPP) chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, on May 24, took a jibe at the regional political parties for failing to raise issues, which they promised during elections.

He was responding to a query on the alleged silent attitude of the United Democratic Party (UDP) on the demand to review the job reservation policy, despite it being one of the main promises in its election manifesto.

“I am sorry to say that all regional parties in the state are the parties who are not standing for the people. They are the parties just to fight elections only. For them it is to fight elections to win elections and after elections all the issues are closed, they will not even discuss anything,” Basaiawmoit told reporters.

According to him, the attitude of the regional political parties is nothing new before the people of the state.
