Woman found dead outside her residence in Sonapur, Assam

An FIR has been registered and a thorough investigation is on to uncover the motive behind the crime and ascertain the truth about Hasmat's involvement in the woman's death.

SONAPUR:

A lifeless body of a woman was discovered outside her residence, in the 15th Mile area of ​​Sonapur police station, situated on the border between Assam and Meghalaya on August 2, sparking immediate alarm among the locals.

On being informed about the case, a police team rushed to the scene and took custody of the deceased woman’s body, and sent it to the hospital for postmortem examination.

The victim has been identified as Rita Boro. According to some eyewitnesses, Boro was last seen in the company of a youth named Hasmat Ali on August 2 morning, just before the unfortunate event occurred.

The residents have expressed deep concern and suspicion towards Hasmat, believing him to be involved in the woman’s murder.

Following the incident, Hasmat fled the area, raising further suspicions against him. The Sonapur police, in collaboration with the Hajo police from Kamrup rural district, are tracking Hasmat’s mobile device to apprehend him for questioning in connection with the alleged murder.
