Youth Congress leaders to resign, effigies of Pala and Deborah burnt

The protesting youth congress members expressed disappointment that their demand for genuine Congress members to be allotted tickets in some of the constituencies was overlooked by the party leadership.

Leaders of the youth congress in Garo Hills have announced their resignation from the party after state leaders refused to accept their demands for change of candidates in several constituencies.

On Friday night, members of the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress staged a protest outside the Congress bhawan in Tura and burned effigies of state Congress president Vincent Pala, working president Deborah C Marak, and two other candidates, Saleng A Sangma of Gambegre and Billykid A Sangma for the North Tura constituency.

The protesting youth congress members expressed disappointment that their demand for genuine Congress members to be allotted tickets in some of the constituencies was overlooked by the party leadership.
