SHILLONG:

Senior BJP leader and cabinet minister Alexander Laloo Hek on Friday expressed confidence that the party will come back to power at the Centre next year.

“You can do whatever you want, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one hundred percent certain to win again and form the government at the Centre,” Hek told reporters.

“The only appeal I have for the people is why waste their votes. They should vote for a strong national party, which is the BJP as it will be ruling at the Centre,” he added.

Hek also informed that the BJP is going to set up candidates in both the Shillong and Tura parliamentary constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.

“However, we are yet to decide on the names of the candidates,” he said while adding that they welcome anybody who wants to support the party.

Hek also stated that coalition partners in the MDA, such as NPP and UDP, will also be fielding their own candidates, as they have done in previous elections.

“As in the past elections, all parties have put forth their own candidates and are competing against each other as MDA partners,” he added.
