Assam Don Bosco University holds 12th convocation, Governor graces event

During the welcome address, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University, Fr. (Dr) Jose Palely, congratulated the graduates and expressed hope that the values they have imbibed in the university will guide them in accepting change and adapting to evolving times.

GUWAHATI:

The 12th Convocation of Assam Don Bosco University took place on September 23, 2023, at the Tapesia Campus in Sonapur, Guwahati. The prestigious event was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria, who is also the visitor of the university. Also in attendance were the Vice Chancellor, Fr. (Dr) Jose Palley, Pro Vice Chancellor, Fr Joseph Nellnatt, Directors of Schools, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students, and eminent dignitaries from across the country.

In his convocation address to the graduating students, Gulab Chand Kataria emphasized the importance of the new young workforce in India. He urged them to join the ranks of millions of young individuals with dreams, visions, innovative ideas, and hopes for a better India. He urged them to strive to be a part of the workforce that brings about meaningful changes in the lives of their fellow countrymen and citizens worldwide through innovative ideas and dedication.

Kataria also extended his congratulations to the University for the successful implementation of the New Education Policy 2020 (NEP) and commended the efforts in conducting workshops, training teachers, and restructuring undergraduate program syllabi.

The Hon’ble Chancellor, Fr. Januarius Sangma, encouraged the graduates by highlighting the vast opportunities that lie ahead of them. He likened the world to a canvas waiting for their brush-strokes, a stage waiting for their performance, a laboratory ready for their experiments, and the nation waiting for their leadership. He emphasized the need for responsible citizenship, ensuring a legacy of stewardship and sustainability for future generations.

He encouraged them to be passionate in their pursuits, respect everyone and everything, and uphold the university’s values in their decisions.

The convocation ceremony saw the conferring of degrees upon 1286 students, comprising 555 students receiving bachelor’s degrees in Engineering & Technology, Arts, and Basic Sciences, and 731 students receiving Master’s degrees in various branches of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Management. Additionally, 23 accomplished scholars were conferred with doctoral degrees.
