National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from North Tura Thomas Sangma filed his nominations for the upcoming Meghalaya Assembly polls on February 4.

Briefing the media after filing his nominations, Sangma exuded confidence that with the support of the people, he will be able to serve for another term.

Speaking about the battle in North Tura, the sitting MLA stated that no one can be underestimated, and the fight becomes interesting when there is competition, even as he expressed confidence in coming out victorious.

“We have several national parties, the BJP, Congress, and Trinamool, but I have utmost faith in my people who will go with the NPP.,” he said.

When questioned about the vast difference between North Tura and South Tura in terms of development, Sangma debunked his critics and said, “Different constituencies have different issues, and development wise North Tura is not lacking in anything.”

He said that there are several projects in North Tura such as integrated PA Sangma Sports Complex, Tribal Research Institute, upcoming Hunar Medical Hub Skill Developmental Centre, “hence on the development aspect, North Tura is at par with South Tura.”

Asked about the key issues in his constituency and how he plans to address it, Sangma said that development, upliftment of livelihood of people, youth empowerment, and creating jobs are some of the core areas of focus in his area.
