SHILLONG:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on May 19, expressed satisfaction over the presentation made by the state government on the roster system.

β€œWe are satisfied with the system and even other political parties like the TMC (Trinamool Congress) and the Congress are okay (with it),” the state unit BJP chief Ernest Mawrie said.

Mawrie also said that the party is looking forward to the government and the Chief Minister, who briefed them that a committee will be formed to discuss further queries related to the roster system.

Spokesperson of the party, Himalaya Shangpliang said that after seeing the presentation from the government the party feels that the roster system to be implemented by the state is going to benefit the job seekers.

β€œThis whole roster system is only for job reservation and therefore going in line with the other parties we all agreed that the system the government is going to implement is satisfactory,” Shangpliang said.

He said that whatever doubts that were there in their minds and that of the people of the state has been cleared.

The BJP spokesperson said that it is understood that the roster system is not going to affect any other categories and not even for those students who are going for further studies in the line of engineering or medical.

Shangpliang said that the reservation policy of 40-40 percent will be implemented in letter and spirit for those who are going for further studies.

He also said that the government knows best whether the reservation policy needs a review or not.

The BJP spokesperson stated that the party was looking forward to the roster system that will benefit the youths of the state and will create more job avenues for all communities of the state.
