It was another day of chaos in the city during the filing of nominations with thousands of supporters of the various candidates and hundreds of vehicles thronging the city from various constituencies under East Khasi Hills district.
Commuters coming into the city had to face the brunt of the traffic congestion even as the streets were choc-a-bloc with vehicles.
Traffic jams were witnessed from Upper Shillong to Don Bosco even as commuters complained that the show of strength by the candidates was unnecessary.
“The candidates promised that they will work for the people of the state but today showed that they don’t really care about the common man,” one parent who had to fetch his daughter from a school in 7th Mile said after his vehicle got stuck in 101 Area.
Meanwhile, another group of individuals said that it took them nearly four hours to reach Shillong from 7th Mile.
