Commonwealth Games gold medalist Nayanmoni Saikia appointed as DSP

Saikia was given the DSP post and a cheque for Rs 50 lakhs for her excellent performance at the Commonwealth Games, 2022 in Birmingham.

GUWAHATI:

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Nayanmoni Saikia was formally appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Assam government on September 3.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the letter of appointment to the 29-year-old Lawn Bowl player at Janata Bhawan in Dispur.

Saikia, who was given the DSP post and a cheque for Rs 50 lakhs for her excellent performance, is one of the team members of the Indian Women’s team who created history by winning the gold medal in Lawn Bowl at the Commonwealth Games, 2022 in Birmingham.

The team, consisting of Rupa Rani Tirkey, Pinki, Nayanmoni Saikia, and Lovely Choubey, won the medal by beating powerhouse South Africa.
