The Meghalayan Photos

Sir

Apropos of the news in your esteemed newspaper under the title, ‘NCB identifies Shillong, Guwahati as drub hubs’, I am constrained to say that the menace of drugs appears to have come to stay in Meghalaya and urgent steps are required to rid our state of this deadly virus.

As mentioned in the news report, Assam has taken some strong measures against drug dealers by launching well-coordinated operations that have netted many of the peddlers of death.

Being next door to Assam, Meghalaya must be alert all the time to prevent the state from slipping into a drug abyss. Apart from fortifying the police apparatus with sophisticated aids that can battle the menace, the government, in collaboration with the civil society, must reach out to the vulnerable section and make them aware of the dangers that consumption of drugs hold.
