Demand for release of Tapor Pullom gains momentum in Arunachal

Speaking to The Meghalayan, Pullom’s daughter-in-law Amoni Diru said that family will take the protest to New Delhi.

Shillong:

The demand for Centre’s intervention to bring back Tapor Pullom home from the captivity of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China has gained momentum in Arunachal Pradesh.

On March 14, members of several student bodies staged a sit-in protest demanding the state and Centre to initiate measures to ensure Pullom’s safe return.

Speaking to The Meghalayan, Pullom’s daughter-in-law Amoni Diru said that despite several rounds of protests, the government has not officially reacted to the issue.

She further said that the family will take the protest to New Delhi soon and urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take steps at the earliest for Tapor Pullom’s return.

The case of Pullom missing came to light last month after Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao requested the Centre to initiate steps for his release who was allegedly abducted by the Chinese PLA in September 2015 from the Line of Actual Control in Monigong area in Shi-Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh.
