The general secretary of Diengiei Durbar Area (DDA) Hambert Thangkhiew has expressed concern that the erratic power supply has affected students preparing for their Board examinations.

Students are currently preparing for their Secondary School Leaving Certification (SSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC).

In a statement issued, he said, “The erratic power supply in the Diengiei area is unacceptable.”

He reportedly had a telephonic conversation with the official of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL), Umiam where he was informed that there will be load shedding from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Thangkhiew said, “The official admitted that there was telephonic a conversation with higher ups and there was no notification for the load shedding.”

He said that parents and students are complaining as it has affected their studies.

Of late, the power supply has been irregular in other areas of Shillong as well.
