NONGPOH:
As part of celebration for youth week and youth Sunday, the Ri Bhoi Presbyterian Church Synod organised a football tournament at Pahambir on September 22-23.
Twenty teams from nearby villages participated in the tournament, with Pahamjri winning the tournament against Umsohkhling with a margin of 2 goals to 1.
The Closing Ceremony of the Tournament was witnessed by Las Marngar, President of UDP Youth wing Ri Bhoi who was also the Chief Guest at the occasion in presence of Sensi Lyngdoh, Lyngdoh of Raid Nonglyngdoh, church elders, and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Marngar commended the organisers for conducting such tournaments as it promotes sports in the area.
He said that sports are not just for recreation purposes, but it can also be taken up as a career option as well.
Marngar also praised the girls from Ri Bhoi district representing the state in the Subroto Cup tournament being held in New Delhi.
