Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh

SHILLONG:

Cabinet Minister in-charge of Tourism Department Paul Lyngdoh has said that his department will take corrective measures to improve amenities at tourism sites.

Lyngdoh was reacting to TMC leader pointing to many tourism sites lacking basic amenities despite the government going all out to alleviate tourism infrastructure in the state

“A lot of proposals are being prepared in order to refurbish and improve these sites and consultation will be held with all stakeholders as a lot of these sites are not property of the Tourism Department, and that the government is only supporting the local communities,” Lyngdoh said.

The minister cited an example of Arwah caves, stating that the site is managed by the local community, and has hundreds of visitors daily, so amenities will crumble given the footfall.
