Dr Aman Warr lashes out at TMC for accusing him of feigning ignorance on COVID expenditures

Warr clarified that up until his retirement, the directorate has spent over Rs 240 crore with regard to COVID-19 and has no knowledge about the Rs 803 crore.

SHILLONG:

Former Director of Health Service (MI) and a United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate for North Shillong, Dr Aman Warr, on February 9, hit back at the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for calling him ‘clueless’ about COVID-19 expenditures of more than Rs 800 crore.

Warr clarified that up until his retirement, the directorate has spent over Rs 240 crore with regard to COVID-19 and has no knowledge about the Rs 803 crore.

He said, “Little knowledge is very dangerous and speaking about such issues, one should have proper facts.”

Furthermore, with regards to the Rs 803 crore, Warr said the people who have spent the money will be the best people to reply, adding that he is not implying that there are any irregularities.

Warr also stated that a certain amount was released to MLAs at the start of the pandemic hence, there is a possibility that the amount released was reflected in the Rs 803 crore. “But then again, I have no knowledge of it as it did not pass through me,” he added.

Lashing at TMC state general secretary of the women’s wing, Noor Warjri, for accusing him of feigning ignorance, Warr said people are only trying to stain his image and the images of the COVID warriors.

“The TMC lady was peeping from her window, what was she doing during that time? If she wants to debate on this at any place or time, I am ready,” Warr talked tough.

“To say that I’m pretending is false…People who shift from one party to another only leave behind destruction. So before making such allegations, first kindly look at your own backyard then comment,” the UDP candidate said.
